Episode 11

Justice

Well, Im back.Its been a while since my last entry,and there is a reason. Writing is not an easy thing for me! Pieces of East has been around the block a few times and we have some new material to show for all the bumps and bruises.

One number that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine is called "Justice". About a year ago I worked out a melody on the bass, and a little motif that suggested a mood for the song.True to form,we worked on this piece for a couple months. Not getting anywhere, we put it on the shelf. It was a few months later that Laura rescued the tune from the land that I forget, what was that?

Out of the blue (from my perspective) came lyrics, and with that, subject matter.Then the process of fine tuning started, and after many false starts, mistake laden performances, rolled eyes and grins - Voila! The song is now ready to play for an audience. It does not end there,as we continue to find different and hopefully better ways to approach the tune. This process is ongoing with all the material we create, it keeps the music alive.
